The “Learning Never Stops” Campaign is Phase 2 of the WRO Foundation’s three-phase response strategy to the current Coronavirus Pandemic sweeping the United States and the World. The targeted goal is to provide FREE access for more than 1,000 students to participate in our recently announced online virtual robotics courses and the WRO USA National Virtual Robotics Tournament targeted for September 2020.
“Students in the United States, and world-wide, are being challenged to maintain their skills and interest in STEM-related activities due to the shutdown of many academic institutions and social distancing as their communities deal with COVID-19” stated Larry Rzepka, President of the WRO Foundation. “In addition, parents have to deal with the realities of unemployment and job furloughs as the virus takes it’s toll on the economy. The WRO Foundation feels it is imperative that we try and help in some small way.”
The “Learning Never Stops” Campaign will provide underwriting and scholarship funds to enable students across the United States to participate in our new online course-work, qualifying tournament rounds and the USA National Virtual Finals at no cost to the student and their parents.
Phase 1 of the WRO Foundation’s COVID-19 response strategy was the development and launch of two online courses:
· Introduction to Virtual Robotics: a series of lessons for elementary, middle and high school students who have had very little or no experience with robotics;
· WRO Virtual Robotics Skills Course: intended for an audience of students who have had previous experience in WRO physical robotics tournaments and wish to expand and adapt their knowledge into the virtual world.
Please consider a donation to support the WRO Foundation's efforts to help the youth of our nation continue their education without the pressure of current economic challenges facing their parents. Your contribution is fully tax deductible.
