LEAP’s mission is to empower underserved students to achieve social and economic mobility by cultivating personal, educational, and career growth. LEAP provides free after-school, school day, and summer programs (virtual and in-person) for over 400 youth from sixth grade through post-secondary in Salem, Peabody, Gloucester, and Lynn.
LEAP staff are essential workers on the frontlines of education. When it comes to student achievement, COVID-19 has highlighted in a dramatic way the importance of in-person learning, peer-to-peer as well as peer-adult relationships. At school youth have a safe, quiet space to learn, can build important peer and adult relationships, have access to the same resources and technology as their wealthier peers and are assured two healthy meals a day. With in-person learning rare in underserved communities and social isolation increasing among our youth, we are finding that many of our youth are falling into a widening opportunity gap.The pandemic, systemic racism, economic uncertainty – any one of these alone could disrupt a student’s future, but with your support, together, we will NOT let that happen to our youth.
100% of proceeds go directly to LEAP's youth programs to cover teacher salaries and classroom supplies.
On behalf of our Board, staff, and students, thank you for participating in our 5K fundraiser.
