I am a member of the Junior League of Douglas County (JLDC), a women’s organization dedicated to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. We focus on literacy awareness & improvement in the community. We have launched The Little Black Dress Initiative, an awareness campaign which seeks to increase knowledge around the limits poverty can play on professional & employment opportunities for women; by wearing one black dress for 5 consecutive days. 1) To highlight how limited resources impacts the ability to afford work-appropriate clothing needed for economic growth above the poverty line. 2) To understand how limited resources can affect daily life. 3) Fundraiser is supporting the mission of the JLDC to promote volunteerism, develop the potential of women, and improve the lives of women and children in our community through literacy.
Your support is critical to making my campaign a success! You can support me with as little as $10: Your donation will go directly to support the mission of the JLDC and will help us continue to improve our community and membership training program. All donations are tax deductible!
