Jumpstart’s Read for the Record campaign brings together over 2 million adults and young readers to read the same book on the same day, promoting the importance of early literacy and increasing access to high-quality books. Given the events of the last year, your support is needed now more than ever to help put books in the hands of children who need them most. Jumpstart has partnered with Baretz+Brunelle this year to launch a new inititiave, which we’re calling Lawyers4Literacy, to attract law firm support for Jumpstart’s Read for the Record.

You can help support this effort by creating a fundraiser today.

Read for the Record

Each year, Jumpstart selects a Read for the Record campaign book that fosters language and social-emotional development, honors the diversity in our world, has a strong narrative, and appeals to young children. On Read for the Record day, this book is read around the country and world at events, schools, libraries, museums, and more. In 2020, Read for the Record engaged over 2.24 million readers.

Sharing high-quality picture books with young children is at the core of Jumpstart’s mission. Your sponsorship will provide classrooms with a set of Read for the Record Special Edition books*, add quality, age-appropriate, and culturally diverse books to children’s home libraries, and engage adults in the meaningful experience of reading to children. This year’s event is taking place on October 28, 2021 and the book is Kat Zhang’s Amy Wu and the Patchwork Dragon.
