Three years ago Early Alert Canines placed me with Ricki, a most incredible yellow lab. Not only is she super sweet and cuddly, but she does an incredibly important task: she alerts on my blood sugar levels.
I wouldn't be alive today if it weren't for Ricki.
Ricki is so fast and so efficient at her job that she beats my Dexcom (state of the art continuous blood sugar monitor) by as much as 45 mintues. Sometimes she's so far ahead of my technology that I have to wait 20 minutes to know whether my blood sugar is going up or down!
This dog has saved my life on at least a handful of occasions. She's woken me up from dead sleep to tell me to check my blood sugar. I owe everything to this dog, and therefore to this organization. Which is why I work for them now!
Please support Early Alert Canines in their mission and help us place more live saving dogs like Ricki!
This year our annual walk has a fundraising goal of $35,000 — the cost of training and supporting one service dog. Rally your friends and families, build a team, raise some money, and come join us at our 2 Feet • 4 Paws • 1 Cause Walk!
