Laurel Elizabeth Underwood was a beautiful, vibrant, artisitic young woman with a great sense of humor, who was proud to graduate a semester early from college in December of 2016 to begin making her mark on the world. In January of 2017, she learned she had a rare form of ovarian cancer and fought a courageous battle for the next 15 months. Sadly, Laurel passed away just weeks shy of her 22nd birthday.
In memory of Laurel, the family is committed to helping fight cancer and supporting other families experiencing the same. Our fundraising goal is to raise $3000 in order to to have a personalized brick in her honor placed along the flower beds in the Healing Garden at the Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center.
On Sunday, June 23, 2019, we are coming together to walk the 10K (6.2 mile) WALK route through Salem, MA. For nearly three decades, the North Shore Cancer WALK has brought together a community focused on raising funds for the fight against cancer. To date, more than $23 million has been raised. This year that mission will again be celebrated, as entertainers and supporters along the route lend a festive air to an unforgettable journey, driven by determination and inspired by hope.
Proceeds from the 2019 WALK will be used to provide support to Oncology services on the North Shore Medical Center’s Salem campus as well as for clinical trials, wellness care and other Oncology services at the Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center in Danvers.
