On September 23, 2012 Laura McDermott was killed in a tragic hit and run accident. The world lost a beautiful and inspiring woman that day. Laura's zest for life inspired us to turn our loss into a celebration of her life. Laura's fun loving nature and love for travel led us to an obvious collaboration between our event and Ecology Project International. EPI is a non-profit organization that specializes in under-served student travel and environmental education. Since our first annual Laura McDermott Cornhole Tournament in 2013, we have raised more than $16,000 and have sent more than 32 students on educational trips to Yellowstone National Park. This year, we have a goal of raising $4,000 so that we can send 8 more students on a week-long science and conservation adventure to Yellowstone National Park in Laura's name.
The 6th annual event will take place on Saturday, October 13th at Wash Park, near Franklin and Mississippi in Denver, CO. Registration will start at 12:00 pm with the tournament beginning at 1:00.
