A few years ago RAM was started with the goal of hosting an event once a month for boys ages 12 to 18, living in the foster care system. Many of this age group are housed in group homes with ten plus other boys. Our monthly events are called Skills Days. Skills Days provides each participant a chance to learn about many different career paths and exposes them to job opportunities, while also teaching them the skills and character needed to be successful young men. The boys and our volunteers love these events and look forward to them every month. Skills days events have really made a dramatic impact on the growth and development of the boys and have illuminated the need for continued mentoring after the boys turn 18 and are aged out of the foster care system. A big part of the Vision of RAM is to continue to support the growth and well-being of these young men, by providing a stable and positive living environment.
Two years ago RAM started working on the Launch Pad House program. It is designed to provide a traditional family living situation paired with life management training and mentor support.
Launch Pad house parents will provide the boys with love and stability, and assist the young men with developing an identity that includes character, self-reliance, and personal accountability. By meeting their physical, emotional and educational needs, we believe we can win their hearts for Christ. When our boys become men they will be prepared to be the leaders God created them to be.
RAM has identified a house that will meet the needs of young men perfectly and provide a big step towards making a long-term impact on those in our program. It will allow us to start our program off with 8 boys, and provide our house parents with private space as well.
This property could not be more perfect if we had built it ourselves.
All of the money raised will go toward the purchase and operations of our Launch Pad Program.
