We believe Lainey was meant to be ours. We were looking for a dog off and on for two years but none really felt like love at first sight. One Friday morning I found Second City Canine Rescue and Lainey was the first picture to pop up. I instantly fell in love and sent the link on to Lainey’s now dog dad and he said “We have to meet Lainey!” Our journey began there.
Lainey was surrendered and was told she wasn’t wanted. She was very skinny, covered in oil, not spayed and had mammary tumors. You would touch her and she would scream in fear. She was so shut down. SCCR took her on Sep 2017, they got to work showering her with love and cleaning her up! She spent 6 months with SCCR learning how to become a dog.
On March 22, 2018 we welcomed Lainey into our home. When Lainey first came to us she did not like anyone touching her and wanted her space. She was 32 pounds when we adopted her and had gained weight in her foster home so you can imagine how skinny she was when SCCR took her in. We respected her boundaries and allowed her to decide when she wanted our attention. Over time the true Sassy Setter emerged!
Lainey is now a 10 year old, healthy, playful, curvy 42 pound Sassy Setter! She spends her days barking at mom when she needs something, sleeping in the human bed, traveling often to our family lake house where she hikes, swims, and of course keeps her Instagram followers up to date on her adventures (@laineythesassysetter).
We love our little Lainey. She is honestly perfect in every way. We are so incredibly thankful to Second City Canine Rescue especially her foster family. We want to give back to them and help them fundraise for their new building. This building will allow them to continue their mission and save more dogs like Lainey.
Our ultimate goal is to sponsor the food prep area at the new building but any amount we can get to is appreciated!
