Family Assistance Program needs your support this year! We are actively looking for participants to join us in the fight against human trafficking in San Bernardino County. Our survivor led anti-human trafficking program called “The Open Door” gives young victims a voice and a place for it to be heard in a safe environment where they can heal from the trauma they have endured.
Our team motto: "We run because they have to" illustrates the sad reality of the numerous children in our neighborhoods who are voiceless in their fight against sexual exploitation and abuse. We run to raise awareness that human trafficking is not a problem that only occurs in foreign countries, but is happening in our local communities. Dianne Amato, The Open Door’s program manager, expresses that “victims of human trafficking in San Bernardino are part of an extremely vulnerable population; traffickers prey upon this vulnerability. Most of the victims our program assists are young and highly impressionable. We want them to know help is out there and they have options.” The Open Door provides street outreach, crisis intervention, a 24-hour hotline, shelter service, care coordination and much more to these victims. With your support we can continue to provide these supportive services to those who are most vulnerable in our community.
