When I started to volunteer for this organization several years ago, I didn't expect to learn so much about LA Chinatown Firecracker and about a community that I would visit every Sunday with my parents for grocery shopping when I was a little kid. I was born in Chinatown in the French Hospital, the neighborhood's oldest hospital that closed down recently. I had and still have family that lives in Chinatown. The community has seen a lot of changes and updating recently, but it's still the Chinatown that anything and everything you are looking for.
LA Chinatown Firecracker generates money from it's events every year and gives back to the the community in many ways. One way is to fund local projects that betters the neighborhood. Some requirements include that it must be a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization and the projects must help promote physical fitness and health.
I hope that by volunteering in this organization, I can better myself by helping the Chinatown community and to provide opportunities for my kids to network and learn about altruism.
