For the past three years, I’ve participated in Skirtathon, a fun and empowering challenge created by Kristen Warner. The challenge builds community among a group of academic women across the nation by encouraging them to wear a skirt (or dress) every day for the month of April. For me, Skirtathon is about loving my body, being creative with my closet, and embracing my femininity. This year, I’ve decided to add an element of social good. For every day that I “skirt” in April, I’ll be donating $5 to She’s the First, a nonprofit that fights for gender equality through education. I thought this was the perfect organization for “skirting” and even more appropriate since this is the first year I have a baby girl in my life. I’m fighting for her and millions of other girls worldwide! Please join me by donating to the cause - raising $400 will support basic tuition for a STF scholar!
