KIDS OF THE ARTS (KOTA) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization based in New York City, dedicated to creating professional performance opportunities for young actors. KOTA strives to inspire young people to follow their passion, and make a positive impact on the world. Since day one, part of KOTA's mission is to donate a portion of the proceeds from our events to charities throughout the world. KOTA has trained and worked with performers from over 50 Broadway productions & National Tours, as well as feature films and television shows.
Every year, KOTA offers over $10,000 in need-based SCHOLARSHIPS to young actors who wish to be a part of our programs. The funds raised through this campaign will aid in offering additional scholarships for our upcoming productions. Tuition covers only a small percentage of our expenses, which includes theater & rehearsal space rental, production rights, set, costumes, lighting, sound, printing, and more. Producing a show in New York City is very expensive, but the confidence and personal growth these young actors develop throughout our programs make it well worth it.
What's next? KOTA is producing a three-week run of DISNEY'S HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL at Theatre Row on 42nd Street in August of 2018! In addition to the mainstage production, we are offering a Youth Production for younger actors between 8-16 years old. Choreographed by Broadway's Thommie Retter, we are thrilled to be bringing this high-energy show to audiences of all ages!
Spotlight! KOTA performers can currently be seen on Broadway & National Tours of in FROZEN, SCHOOL OF ROCK, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, LES MISERABLES, THE KING & I, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, HAMILTON, ON YOUR FEET, to name a few projects. Recent films and TV includes The Greatest Showman, The Post, Disney's Zombies, Pete's Dragon, Nickelodeon's "Game Shakers", "Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn", Bad Moms, "Dance Moms", and much more.
Giving Back. KOTA's first production was to benefit a young girl fighting Cancer. To this day, the company donates proceeds each year to charities locally and around the world. In addition, KOTA performs at nursing homes, charity events and hospitals. Founder & Artisitc Director, Laura Luc, is a two-time particpant in the Covenant House Broadway Sleep Out, which raises funds for homeless youth.
