Not long ago, LCHS was contacted regarding the case of a sensitive husky who was coming apart in the overwhelming environment of a local shelter.
Poor Kona was so overstimulated and terrified by the shelter that surrounded her that she shut down entirely. She was entirely miserable, refusing to eat and barely acknowledging any human presence.
After her initial assesment by our Dog Foster Coordinator, Amy Raddar, it was clear that Kona needed out of the shelter and into a foster home as soon as possible.
After just a few days in a foster home, the change in Kona was incredible. A little work and a lot of love from her foster family coaxed this sweet husky out of her shell and her personality has blossomed in their care. In fact, this affectionate, intelligent and mischievous husky charmed her foster family into adopting her permanently!
Kona came to us traumatized and terrified, but thanks to the unique and wonderful power of our foster program, she is now happily settling into her new life with a loving family.
