Please join the March of Dimes Hawaii Board in raising money to support Hawaii's moms and littlest keiki.
Your donation will support important research in the fight for the health of all moms and babies. In Hawaii, your donation will also support the March of Dimes NICU Family Support Program at Kapi'olani Medical Center. While their baby is being cared for by the doctors and nurses, the MOD NICU Family Support Coordinator is there to help and support the parents.
When a baby is born prematurely, the family faces a stressful new world. Often, the parents see the baby only for a moment before he or she is whisked away to the newborn intensive care unit (NICU). How can having a premature baby affect a family emotionally? Instead of taking home a healthy newborn, parents spend hours in the hospital, talking to all kinds of specialists. The medical equipment that is helping the baby survive can be frightening. The doctors and nurses use clinical words that parents may not understand. And the busy, hectic atmosphere in the NICU is stressful. Often the mother is feeling lonely and sad because she leaves the hospital before the baby does. Some babies spend weeks or month in the NICU fighting for their lives. Sadly, not all babies survive
Won't you please help the March of Dimes continue their support of these families by making a donation today? They are depending on all of us.
