UPDATE! It's a GIRL!!! Yes, Owen it turns out is an Opal! She has had her surgery and is doing well. She had her front damaged leg removed along with the last vertebrae of her tail that was torn off removed. She is on pain meds and antibiotics and is resting comfortably. Thank uo to everyone who have so generously and sweetly donated to this babies care. It is because of you that we have been able to save her!
Our rescue, Lovable Feline Rescue of North Alabama (LFRNA) a 501c3 nonprofit took in a kitten yesterday that suffered serious injuries after being thrown from a truck. We currently have this baby at our vet on pain meds, antibiotics and other required support.
Owen as this baby has been named was witnessed being thrown from a truck window. When Owen hit the cement, it ripped the skin off its tail (they are unsure if it is a male or female due to trauma and swelling in that area) and severe damage was done to its front leg. There was also a great deal of "scuffing" damage on the genital area causing extensive pain and swelling.
The person who witnessed this was able to keep an eye on the kitten. The next morning, what had been left of the tail was completely gone. They reached out to use for help as they were not able to catch this now traumatized kitten. A wonderful volunteer went out and spent the entire day watching the traps before finally catching it. We immediately met them to get Owen and rush to the vet.
After an initial examination, it became clear the front leg will have to be amputated and the last remaining vertebrae of the tail removed. These are exstensive and expensive surgeries that our small rescue does not have the funding for, but we couldn't turn our back on this baby so desparetely in need.
Any amount is not too small and it so greatly appreciated. 100% of your donation will go directly to the care of this kitty as we have no paid staff. Thank you for any help you can give and please share this to help get the word out so we can get this baby the surgery is so desparetely needs.
