We have a generation in crisis and the problem is growing. More children and youth are living in poverty and on the street than ever before. These are the most vulnerable to child sex trafficking, violence, crime, drug abuse, depression, and suicide. At K.I.S.S., we believe that God’s radical love can heal hearts and restore lives. Cycles of abuse and dysfunction can be broken. The purpose of this campaign is to purchase a home in the low-income area of Galveston, TX, that will serve as a refuge where at-risk children and youth can experience the love of God in the context of a home and family.
The heart of K.I.S.S. is to rescue, re-parent and redeem at-risk children and youth. We also love our neighborhood and believe that poverty, at its core, is a spiritual problem that can be resolved. K.I.S.S. is a spirit-filled, biblically-based organization that has seen and experienced the miracle working power of God transforming lives; therefore, we offer opportunities to experience God’s presence and biblical mentorship where spiritual principles are applied so that youth can be launched into successful adulthood.
The vision for a non-institutionalized safe house emerged as founder, Pamela Rose, saw the principles of biblical parenting combined with God’s love, set people free. She envisioned a home that would be accessible to the neighbors and children she was already working with, but more importantly, available as a refuge for youth currently living on the street. She saw a safe location with safe relationships where youth could grow, community could be integrated into the process and prayer could rise. Our goal is to raise $100,000 to purchase a small home, make repairs and purchase furniture and appliances. The project is overseen by Pamela Rose and a board of directors consisting of Keith and Lesa Taylor, and Timothy Darnell.
How Did It All Begin? Pamela Rose spent years deeply disturbed by the problems facing young people and interceding in prayer for intervention and solutions. In 2018, Pamela moved to Galveston and began working hands-on in this context. It was then that she realized God was working through her to be the answer to her own prayers. K.I.S.S. was formed. It is an acronym for Kingdom in Strategic Service. We are the Kingdom of God strategically operating to serve “the least of these.”
In Conclusion, the number of youth living on the street unaccompanied by an adult is impossible to determine because homeless youth do not want to be found. However, the police departments, school systems and social workers know this is a huge and yet hidden problem. Additionally, there simply are not enough resources to help. The 17-24 year old age range is the most difficult because these need the most assistance transitioning into adulthood. Almost all of them are in various stages of trauma and few people want to take them in. The KISS safe house will bridge that gap, creating a place of safety essential for trust and transformation. Your donation will help break the cycle of poverty and dysfunction. Be part of the solution and join our cause today! #kisssafehouse
