Ever since returning from my Peace Corps service in Burkina Faso in April 2017, I have been looking for different ways to give back in my local San Francisco community. I was fortunate to have found YCore a few months ago in early 2018, an organization that pairs young career professionals who are interested in social impact with non-profits that have specific project needs.
Through YCore I was partnered, along with a group of other local professionals, with the Tenderloin neighborhood location of 826 Valencia. The 826 Valencia name is well-known in San Francisco, but the Tenderloin location does not receive a lot of foot traffic, and this leads to less funding for their much-needed programs. My group and I have been tasked with driving up the foot traffic and coming up with new way to generate profits at the store location in order to increase funding for their free writing programs for local students.
The process has been an amazing learning experience. Without the help of YCore I would not have met such an amazing group of like-minded individuals, nor would I have had to opportunity to partner with 826 Valencia in such an impactful way. YCore itself is a non-profit and they also have funding needs. That is why I have created this page. As a YCore Volunteer I have committed to raising $1500 . This money will go towards future YCore programming costs so that other amazing young professionals can be the change they wish to see in their community by gaining experience working with local non-profits.
Any donation amount will be happily accepted - big or small. Thank you!
