In today's world, many of our communities are plagued by a lack of access to nutritious food, unhealthy lifestyles, environmental degradation and financial depedency. Although the severity of these problems are well-known, solutions to this crisis are rarely the focus of mainstream educational institutions.
Subsequently, throughout Africa and the United States we find many families and communities lacking awareness of the fundamental skills required to become self-sufficient and healthy.
Kinder Gardens Academy was created as a visionary new approach to solving this problem.
What is Kinder Gardens Academy?
KGA is an educational institute designed to provide our student members with practical training and hands-on experience in the key 4 key areas of agriculture, nutrition, sustainability and entrepreneurship.
By teaching the youth how to produce for themselves, we aim to shift the paradigm of dependency which plagues our communities worldwide. Our curriculum has proven to be effective in equipping young people with little or no prior knowledge with the ability to do the following:
- Cultivate their own organic gardens and farming projects
- Understand the health benefits of various plants, fruits and vegetables
- Plan and prepare nutritious snacks, meals and smoothies from
- Develop value-added products such as soaps, tinctures, herbal remedies and skin care products
- Create, pitch and utilize business plans through our "shark-tank"-style, entreprenurial workshops
- Gain experience in sales and marketing of products that they produced themselves
- Understand the importance of sustainable practices such as composting, recycling, and conservation
As concerns about food security, medical malpractice, environmental destruction and financial instability continue to rise every year, we are focused on cultivating a healthy new generation of leaders who will be able to produce a brighter future for us all.
"If you want to plant a tree, the best time to begin is 100 years ago. The second best time is today."
- Chinese Proverb
Our team has accumulated decades of combined experience developing and managing sustainable projects around the world. From constructing large organic agricultural projects in countries such as Kenya and Benin, to implementing youth services and health programs to young people here in the United States, we are experienced and passionate about the process of building a better world.
Over the years, we have established a strong web of relationships throughout metro Atlanta. As a global city, we believe it is the perfect location to launch our 2021 agenda for local and international impact. With your support, we will be able to create new, world class facilities here in the United States while collaborating with and assisting our partners on the ground in Africa.
Our goal is to successfully complete fundraising and construction for the following three projects by the beginning of our Spring training programs in April of next year.
Urban Training Center (College Park, GA)
We began developing the groundwork for our urban training center in March of 2020 and have received a tremendous outpouring of support since then. With a dedicated staff, constantly growing team of volunteers and generous donations from the community at large, we created a beautiful organic garden that has drawn over 200 visitors in the past 8 months.
We are now preparing to utilize the fall and winter seasons to develop much-needed facilities on the site. Your financial contributions will help us to establish a weatherproof classroom, greenhouse and outdoor kitchen which will enable us to provide year-round educational services.
These state-of-the-art facilities will utilize eco-friendly building materials and energy sources that will demonstrate the practical benefits to sustainable living for the youth.
Volunteer Farm & Campsite (Brooks, GA)
In an age where so many young people are glued to digital devices, we believe in the value of periodic escapes from city life which allow us all to reconnect with nature. This is why we've recently acquired three acres of land in Brooks, GA, where we have already begun cultivating one half acre and have had several successful field trips and crop rotations -- but there is so much more we can do!
With your support, we will be able to maximize development of the entire site by adding a new bio-dynamic food forest, organic farm area, campsite, and child-friendly recreational space with a weatherproof outdoor structure for dry storage and shelter. An off-road company vehicle will be required in order to reliably transport equipment, building materials, fertilizers, students and volunteers to and from the site.(Note: At least 50 percent of all produce grown on the site will be donated to families in need)
Global Impact Fund
This fund will go towards the development of more youth empowerment programs, organizations and initiatives on the African continent. From this resource pool, grants will be awarded on a seasonal basis for those who provide viable solutions to existing problems and demonstrate professionalism, integrity and effectiveness in their approach.
Every program that we work with in Africa will join the Y.A.H Family as partners and participate in Trans-Atlantic Conversations with other dynamic young leaders in America. The first GIF recipient will be Restoration Village Farms, in Ghana, West Africa. RVF has planted over 2,500 trees near Sogakope and is also developing a 70 acre organic farmsite. They also have a youth training program which provides students with hands-on gardening classes and experience learning how to grow and prepare their own food.
