Kimochi keeps vital senior services afloat – won’t you help?
Since shelter-in-place orders were enacted in March 2020, we at Kimochi, a San Francisco based non-profit community senior care organization, moved quickly to refocus our attention to the most urgent of senior needs: take-out and home-delivered meals, and social services. The COVID-19 pandemic has been devastating to so many but it has disproportionately affected seniors who are often isolated or distant from family, who rely on our meal program and assistance with daily living. The need has swelled tremendously over the past months and the pandemic is not lifting anytime soon.
Kimochi’s mission for the past 50 years has been to help seniors, of all ethnicities, maintain their independence through meals, transportation, adult day activities and social services -- so they can live independently, free of institutional care, for as long as possible.
We depend on the $130,000 that we annually fundraise for each year. However, Shelter-In-Place has eliminated our in-person fundraising efforts that we have relied on to keep our programs and services operational. Without the monies generated from these fundraisers, Kimochi will face cutbacks that will directly impact seniors in need.
Your gift will go directly to senior services, not administrative costs. We serve approximately 118,000 meals a year to seniors and our numbers are increasing because of COVID-19. Seniors needing meals have increased by 24% in the past 5 months at Kimochi. Please help us to continue this much needed service of providing hot meals to seniors. Your donations are needed today.
