High school programming at Kid City Hope Place supports students coming from two partner LAUSD schools. Participants improve their math and science skills with Kid City tutors; complete homework and research projects on Kid City computers; learn and prepare for college and career in workshops with staff and volunteers; and visit college campuses across southern California. Additionally, Kid City alumni and volunteers mentor individual high school seniors to prepare them for college.
Kid City is more than just college prep and academics. A warm and welcoming environment, Kid City cultivates a safe place for students to gather with nutritious food, emotional support, and referrals to other services as needed.
Here are ways your contributions can maintain and enhance our High School programming:
$10 provides a student with a valid tap card for transportation to Kid City.
$150 fills our pantry with nutritious food and snacks.
$400 provides a student with a working laptop.
$500 funds a local college trip for up to 15 high school students.
$1,000 sponsors the high school career conference.

At Kid City Hope Place, we believe that a higher education is a public good, and should be accessible and available to all students, including first generation students from mixed-status families, undocumented students, foster youth, and any young person. Yet the road to college is full of barriers and obstacles. Kid City cultivates student leadership and self-advocacy so that participants can move past those barriers and claim their education.
