Over the summer, I along with 29 other amazing and inspiring young people, travelled to the community of Chemagel, located in the Maasai Mara in Kenya with a group known as Me to We. This trip not only allowed me to meet and create lifelong bonds with so many likeminded individuals who share the same morals and values as me, but also allowed me to to embrace a new culture. To educate myself beyond what the media chooses to focus on. To meet people who welcomed us with open arms into their community and their culture. Who shared stories with us, who let us into their homes, and who treated us like one of their own. I was able to make so many lasting connections with the people in the community, especially with all of the children. They greeted us everyday with smiles, walked with us everywhere in the community, and stood by us through the whole trip. To see their smiling faces when they run up to you on the roads wanting nothing more than to just hold your hand really shows that no matter where you come from love and laughter has no barriers. While we were in Kenya we got the amazing opportunity to not only finish one school room, but to also start the foundation for a second. Everyday on the build site we were greeted by the smiles and laughter of the communities children. Seeing how appreciative and thankful they were for the work we were able to do was something I will always hold close to my heart. I, along with my 29 other amazing group members wanted to be able to further the impact that the WE charity has on the lives of school children in WE communities, and we want to ask you for your help!! By donating to this fundraiser you will help provide school supplies and healthy school lunches to many different children all over the world living in WE communities. So many children living in rural and developing areas miss out on the opportunity to get an education because their families can’t afford to send them to school with school supplies or the proper nutrition to keep them healthy enough to attend classes. By allowing them to have access to such things it will change life drastically for them along with their families, it opens them up to a whole new world of opportunity! We got the chance to be impacted by children who face this struggle daily first hand, and now we want to do our best to give a hand up to all the children of the future!
