Mend on the Move is a non-profit, social enterprise serving Metro Detroit that empowers and employs women survivors of abuse and addiction to create hand-crafted jewelry from small auto parts, providing them with an income while in a recovery program.
From the beginning, our vision has been to be mobile (on the move), so that we are able to reach our workers who are unable to get to us because of lack of transportation or stipulations with recovery.
A mobile studio helps us:
• Improve efficiency and productivity
• Reach women at other recovery homes.
• Create a permanent, stable and uninterrupted work space
• Serve also as a retail space for markets and events.
A 30-foot motor home was donated in 2017. An estimated budget of $60,000 is needed to rebuild and customize the vehicle.
