The Irma Lewis Seguin Outdoor Learning Center has operated since 1995, hosting school field trips from over a nine county area of South Central Texas, encouraging and enlightening people of all ages with experiential learning opportunities about outdoor activities.
As a non-profit organization, COVID-19 has hampered our fundraisers and money-making opportunities, leading us to look into other ways to keep the ILSOLC open and functioning. It takes, on average, about $20,000 a month to keep the facilities, activities and staff at their current levels.
We had to cancel our Annual Cajun Jamboree, our primary fundraiser that brings in $40,000-60,000. Approximately $35,000 worth of field trips were canceled in the spring and our High Ropes activities structures are due to be rebuilt at an approximate cost of $25,000 or they will be decommissioned this fall. Because of health precautions, we operated our summer camps at 50% capacity.
We are reaching out to the communities in vaious ways to keep this treasure functioning in our area. The schools need us! Would you please consider donating thru this GoFundMe account, or go directly to our website www.seguinolc.org and click on the large yellow badge in the left handcorner? In addition, if you could please share this information with your friends and families, we would be so appreciative!
