It is difficult for us to start this campaign knowing how many in our JPT Drama Family have lost so much during the last six months. . We understand there are so many organizations and families reaching out for help during these challenging times for their own needs, arts organizations needs and the needs of those pushing for social change. The theatre department at JP Taravella has a mission to provide students with a well rounded theatre education sufficient for those pursuing careers in theatre as well as those who enjoy the arts. Even though education looks a lot different right now, we are still striving to live up to that mission. We are performing our first virtual show at the end of September, we are still participating in Virtual Thespian Districts and State and even Cappies. Unfortunately, all of this costs money. 62% of our school was on free and reduced lunch before the pandemic.
For now, we can't do our traditional fundraisers of yard sales, car washes, cookie dough sales, candy sales and even concessions since everything is virtual. So we are reaching out to our current families, and our greater JPT Drama family and those who are able to help us do a virtual "hassle-free" fundraiser this year. No amount is too small. The funds will be used to support virtual production costs, participate in Cappies, scholarship students who need help participating in districts and state and hopefully fund our live production in the Spring.
We appreciate your support as we all strive to keep the arts alive and give our students something to work towards!
