Hello Friends and Colleagues!
With a lot of hard work and community support, the beautiful and historic Mukai Farm and Garden is now on our National Registry of Historic Places as one of the best examples of a prewar Japanese American farm in America. It has become Vashon’s vibrant gathering place that celebrates our shared rich cultural heritage. But the Corona Virus Pandemic has halted our ability to hold events and meetings - an important source of the revenue necessary to build accessible facilities, maintain our grounds and programs.
I serve on the Mukai Board and I am asking for your help.
Please participate in our Go Fund Me campaign to help us raise $20,000 to sustain the Mukai Farm and Garden during these challenging times. And while you’re at it, please consider becoming a member of Friends of Mukai at www.mukaifarmandgarden.org.
To keep spirits up, visit Mukai. Spring buds and frogs are throughout the Japanese Garden. And throughout April, we’ll host a “virtual” haiku festival. Write one to enter. Entries will be posted online and throughout the Mukai site. Here’s an example:
Cherry blossoms, haiku too
But bills mount: donate!
PS Thanks Jim Diers for the great photo!
