To fund Palma Sola Botanical Park operations and to maintain it as an open green space with free admission to all who visit, the Park offers its facilities for rent for special family and community events & celebrations - weddings, celebrations of life, Quinceaneras, anniversaries, yoga & gardening classes, art shows, public hearings, HOA meetings, etc. We also welcome donations from visitors & supporters.
Planning for Palma Sola Botanical Park was initiated in 1993 by a small group of neighbors determined to save an old vacated nursery site by developing a tranquil garden greenspace to be shared by the immediate and wider community. It would offer an immersive educational experience amongst exotic & native plantings and local wildlife - encouraging respect for our natural resources, reduction of our environmental footprint through landscaping education and enhancement of area biodiversity.
As the COVID-19 pandemic developed, folks who had reserved space in the Park began to cancel their events. The Board of Directors of the Palma Sola Botanical Park, knowing that the public would be facing financial hardships in the coming months, authorized full refunds to those who would be cancelling due to the impact of the pandemic on their plans. But it meant that the funds to see us through the end of the year were gone.
Our goal of raising $25,000 is a hopeful one. With judicious management, these funds will permit the Park to continue to operate through the end of the year. When COVID-19 hit our area hard and beaches, public gathering places and county parks in Manatee County were closed, our Park was there to provide the public with a safe space to go. Many of our visitors have shared their appreciation in finding a place to let go of their anxieties and just breathe in the out-of-doors. We want to be here to continue to do that - we WILL do that as long as we're able. Please help us to do so. Thank you.
