MORE THAN A FESTIVAL
Off the Hook Arts is known for its two annual festivals, SummerFest and WinterFest, which bring some of the best musicians and thinkers in the world to Northern Colorado. These festivals not only cultivate public appreciation for the performing arts, but they also perform another, even more important function: they help fund an array of youth-oriented education programs in Fort Collins.
Off the Hook Arts, like many businesses and nonprofits, has been hit hard by the pandemic. We have been forced to cancel SummerFest this year and have lost access to other resources we have relied on in the past. As a result, the music education programs we hope to provide to low-income students this fall are at risk.
That is why we are asking for your help to get our Academy Programs up and running in the Fall. To put it simply, we need your financial support to help us keep our Music Education Programs open and serving our students.
Help us make sure that the arts continue to thrive in Fort Collins. Help us continue to provide an outstanding level of programming at free or no-cost to them. Help us continue to inspire them by making sure they: work with the highest quality teachers in the area; interact with nationally touring musicians that perform in our festivals; and attend stellar musical performances through our live festival events and concerts. No amount is too small. Please consider continuing your support of OtHA or start a new trend and let us know that you believe the arts are an important, vital part of the fabric of our community.
Your support provides meaningful music education programs that promote creative thinkers and leaders, improve math, language and critical thinking skills, build self-confidence and empathy, boost work ethic and discipline, and help keep students engaged with their peers. All of these life-skills translate to both school and family settings.
The Chamber Music Academy (CMA)
This weekly, low-cost after-school program brings students together to rehearse and perform chamber music and chamber orchestra repertoire in a supportive, fun, and social environment. From September through May, we work with string, woodwind, and piano students, ages 7 to 18. No student is turned away by their inability to pay
Meadowlark Music Program (MMP)
This free program provides beginning, small-group violin and guitar lessons toup to 60 children age 6 to 10 (1st – 5th grade) culminating in a recital for families and community. Children attend lessons at no cost and will receive their instruments free of charge.
OtHA sets the bar high for our musicians in our festivals, and it is no different with the teachers of our academy programs. Students work with high level professional musicians who are dedicated and passionate about teaching music to the next generation of artists. Their teaching styles incorporate a multitude of musical genres and methods of learning.
OUR FESTIVALS: A BRIGHT FUTURE
Could a music performance change your life? Off the Hook Arts believes it can.
That's why we bring the world-class musicians to Fort Collins for two festivals --- our 10 day WinterFest and two week SummerFest. Combining exceptional music performances with the visual arts and sciences, we create themed festivals filled with once-in-a-lifetime experiences that our attendees talk about year after year.
As we recover from altered summer plans, we look to the future for a possible alternate festival, heralding Colorado musicians, and the hosting of a series of house concert events in the 2020 - 21 season.
