The Jacksonville Children's Chorus (JCC) is a non-profit offering multiple choirs and music classes for children of all ages and ability levels who love to sing. With prior performances at NYC's Carnegie Hall, as well as overseas for Pope Francis, our children's dedication and talent is reflected in how passionate they are about the choral arts.
This year, the JCC is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and although it has not been what we expected, we are proud that we have been so adaptable in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic despite the immense impact it has had on our funding. It has been through the help of generous donors that we were able to swiftly transition to fully remote rehearsals, and we are incredibly grateful for everyone's support.
The mission of the Jacksonville Children's Chorus is to provide a high-quality choral music education for children of diverse backgrounds, fostering teamwork, self-discipline, accomplishment and pride while filling an important cultural need in the community and sharing the beauty of the choral art form through artistically excellent performances. The JCC has always prided itself on never having to turn down a child who wants to join due to their family's inability to afford tuition. We have always been able to budget enough scholarship dollars to cover everyone, despite growing scholarship needs each year. This year, nearly half of all JCC members were on full or partial scholarship. As you can imagine, we anticipate the need for scholarship support to skyrocket in the coming season.
Our tuitions range from about $300 for our early choirs, up to over $5,000 for our Touring Choir. Right now, Gofundme has offered to match $1,000 to non-profits who raise money between now and May 10th. With your help, we can ensure that we can continue to provide positivity and a sense of togetherness in the lives of these children through music, at a time where we all have been turning to the arts and creativity to get us through these difficult times.
