Hello everyone! My name is Kazuki Ogita and I am currently a third-year student at Loyola University Chicago studying International Relations and Environmental Policy. This summer, I will be traveling to the north region of Ghana with a non-for-profit organization called Saha Global. Saha partners with rural communities in developing countries to establish sustainable social businesses that provide basic services like water and electricity. These businesses are owned and operated by woman in the villages and utilize simple and affordable technologies.
As a Field Representative, I will have the opportunity to set up the water business model in a village where there is no clean drinking water and train women from the community to run the businesses. This allows for environmental sustainability to be targeted, businesses to be created, and women to be empowered. These women gain respect in their communities and are able to earn an income by treating, cleaning, and selling this water, while simultaneously improving the overall quality of life for the village by providing clean water. The continual maintenance and operation of these businesses is funded by the revenue from the water sales, however, the capital to institute them is generated from fundraising. As a field representative, I am responsible for generating a portion of it, and I need to raise $3,500. The funds I raise will go directly towards staring the water business that a teammate and I will be establishing. It will also ensure that the business has a solid, sustainable start in the community. I would greatly appreciate your help and support. Every donation, in any amount, makes a difference!
