Over the last few years, I have watched the number of homelessness skyrocket in Sacramento and it has become too much for me to handle. I can no longer sit back and watch. Since getting my real estate license, I have learned that I want to help others find homes no matter what their economic status may be.
I am hosting a charity campaign to help homeless youth. There are so many reasons why homelessness occurs. Many of us believe it's because of mental illness and substance abuse when in actuality that is only a small ratio of what causes a person to lose their home. I believe, if we can get in front of the catalyst and stop homelessness at a younger age we can help make a bigger and better impact on our communities.
I have partnered up with The Grove a development facilitated by First Step Communities to create positive change for youth in need. There, they provide emergency bridge housing which is made up of 24 single-occupancy sleeping cabins to those in need between the ages of 18 and 24 years old. They also engage with the youth and coordinate robust wrap-around services to assist the youth in moving into permanent stable housing. I met with the Campus Director of The Grove and asked her what is needed most. I also toured the cabins myself to see exactly what I can do to help.
I am asking for both tangible and monetary donations. You can choose which is most convenient for you. ***For a list of tangible items needed please click HERE***
My goal is to raise $5,000 to help make The Grove a sanctuary for our homeless youth. Please help me by making a donation to my campaign! ***Donors automatically receive tax receipts from PayPal Giving Fund for your taxes.***
After touring the cabins at The Grove, I learned what is most needed to make it a more comfortable place for youth to stay during their transition. Here is a list of things I would like to raise money to purchase for The Grove’s facilities and programs.
My goal is to raise $5,000 for the following items:
-Heavy Duty Metal Outdoor Gazebo to provide shade for the recreational area ($2000)
-Industrial Outdoor Picnic Bench x 2 for visitors and families ($1800)
-Large Triangular Shade Sail x 6 to provide shade during hot months in walkways ($500)
-Art Supplies for recreation ($300)
-Interior Paint for community room ($400)
-Website Design (Any extra donations!)
