I have the honor to work with refugees & asylees who are starting their lives over here in Denver and getting back on their feet after experiencing hardships & adversity that's hard for me to imagine, and the intensive process of life in a refugee camp, being referred by the UN for resettlement, and screened and accepted by the US. Here at Lutheran Family Services we help our new neighbors secure housing and find jobs, as well as getting children enrolled in schools and making sure they have the supports to succeed and thrive!
Every day I am inspired by the resiliency, hope, and hard work of our clients and I'm SO EXCITED to spend my time expanding the services we can provide them beyond the Federal Requirements, supported by individual donations. Like our Youth Hiking Club that is run completely on donations & volunteers, which takes our middle & high school aged youth up into the spectacular mountains around Denver for day-hikes throughout the summer. And our Cultural Mentoring & Exchange Program that links volunteers with a newly arrived refugee family to be a welcoming friend and support their transition to self-sufficiency. And our Job Club that resources our adult clients to prepare them for interviews, create resumes, and enter the US workforce!
Won't you join us in these exciting endeavors?
