Experience Camps are nationally recognized summer camps for grieving children, ages 9-17, who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or caregiver. With nearly 5 million children in the US currently grieving the loss of a close family member, the need is enormous.
Experience Camps operates summer camp programs in 10 locations nationwide, and provides ongoing opportunities throughout the year for support, connection and community. They reframe the experience of grief and empower campers to develop invaluable coping skills that enable them to move forward with their lives.
Evie and her moms have chosen to donate to this camp in place of gifts for her 2nd birthday in memory of her friend Molly whom we lost last year. Friends stick together through tough times, no matter the age. Rylie, Molly's daughter, has been a friend of Evie's since she first visited her when she was just born at the hospital. Rylie's family plans to send her to this camp when she's old enough to attend.
Our hope is that the money we raise for Evie's birthday can help send another child who has experienced a significant loss to this camp, all while teaching Evie the gift of giving. No amount is too small.
