I've almost worked at CPA (Chinese Progressive Association) coordinating CYI (Chinese Youth Initiative) for 2 years now!
I'm gearing up for my second Chinatown Bike-a-thon and would love your support! The youth that I've worked with the past two years have been an integral part of my work and life. They remind me to be human and always challenge me to be bold and wish more for our community's future!
CYI is a youth leadership development program that gives Chinese American and Chinese immigrant youth the opportunity to dive directly into community issues and explore and equip themselves with grassroots organizing skills.
Over the past two years, CYI has grown tremendously! We had 2 paid Youth Staff last academic year, and this year we have 5 paid Youth Staff. We have broadened our youth base so that both ABCs and immigrant youth feel connected to one another and the greater Chinese community. We engaged over 60 youth just this school year through our CYI monthly events. During these events, youth have a chance to discuss issues that they see in the community and learn about current issues such as public school funding, changes in the MBTA, and the 2020 Census.
Currently, our Youth Staff are working on a public transit campaign to increase funding and better bus service in working class Chinese communities of Charlestown and Malden.
CYI would not be able to grow or provide opportunities for our youth without support! What you generously donate directly goes to CYI programming. Please support CYI! Thank you!
