RESPOND is a lifeline. Serving Greater Boston, RESPOND welcomes abused women, children, men, and the LGBQ/T community; it has delivered life-saving and life-changing transformations for more than 100,000 people.
RESPOND's free services include a safe, confidential, home-like emergency shelter with eight bedrooms serving 21 people. Its wrap-around services include a 24-hour crisis hotline, safety planning, counseling, support groups, links to legal, housing, health and other social services, and access to food, medication, transportation and cell phones.
RESPOND's effectiveness in handling difficult, high-risk situations makes it the go-to domestic violence organization of police and social service agencies in the area. Donors, and government and community agencies repeatedly cite RESPOND for its innovation, stability, leadership, and operational excellence.
With huge hearts, RESPOND counselors embrace – they take in individuals as they are, when they need it, and work together to get them where they want to be.
