Join us Sunday, August 25, 2019 at 1PM to celebrate our guruji - Mokshapriya!! She knows something is happening on this date, but doesn't know any of the details so keep it hush and continue to spread the word!!
We all know that the City of Light Sanctuary is Mokshapriya's baby - but it's really her vision for our community to have a place to connect and find ourselves in nature. In lieu of gifts, please donate cash, we will keep this birthday fundraiser on the hush with a goal to raise $5,001!! We are accepting cash donations, please reach out to any of the Yogashakti teachers (not Mokshapriya).
Mokshapriya‘s Vision for The City of Light Sanctuary:
The City of Light Sanctuary began when Mokshapriya was nudged by spirit to purchase the founding 30 acres of property in 2009. From the beginning, she felt the sacredness of the land. Through divine grace, and a lot of hard work, we were we able to finance and re-energize the property.
The only thing missing from the property was naturally flowing water, so she built a lake, complete with a water pump, koi, and frogs.
Since that time, we’ve added an open-air yoga pad, a meditation hall (the Shanti Kutir), a Shiva temple, an octagonal gazebo, and hiking trails throughout the property.
In 2016, Mokshapriya was again nudged, and she purchased the adjacent 13 acres, complete with a flowing brook.
This is truly a special place. There are many, many different energies, and we have discovered that they correspond to the energies of various parts of Mount Shasta and other sacred places throughout the world. No matter what your personal story or belief system, you will feel welcomed and loved at City of Light Sanctuary. The land vibrates to meet you, clear you, and fuel you. Your presence there does the same for it.
During our last big on-property event of the 2018 season, it became apparent that we are serving more people than our accommodations for guests and workshops can currently handle.
Part of our mission is to support growth through community and education, so we have decided to add a conference hall, complete with a kitchen and restrooms.
The building will be able to accommodate 40 yoga mats, and will be available for use for workshops in this beautiful, energizing, serene, and powerful setting.
Since the sewer system and the well need to be upgraded before we can start construction, this is a considerable undertaking—both physically and financially. We are currently in fund-raising mode (phase 1) of this project.
The goal is to have the building up and running by Spring 2020. The entire project will cost $250,000 and will be completely funded by donations. No donation is too big or too small, and all are accepted with gratitude and blessings.
Our own Ian Havill was kind enough to begin bringing this vision into reality by creating this digital drawing of the Conference Hall. The finished building will measure 2550 square feet and the design is simple to compliment the rustic landscape and the rest of the structures at the sanctuary.
