During this time of need, Help us support:
Families in need of food
Even on a "normal" day it is a struggle for poor families to put food on the table. With the "shelter in place" order, there is even less opportunity for people to work because so many businesses are closed. Families are putting white flags outside of their homes to indicate that they are out of food and money.
The Health Department of our local municipality identified over 4,000 poor families that are not on the list to receive government assistance. The department gave out $15 food baskets to these families until their budget ran out. Jungle Ministry has helped 100+ families with offerings of $35 to buy food for a week, but the need is dire.
Medical Professionals in need of medical supplies
The graduates of our college scholarship program who are working in the medical industry and the municipalities informed us of the lack of protective clothing for the medical staff of our city. One of our obstetrics students said that doctors and nurses did not want to go to work due to the lack of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs).
Jungle Ministry has purchased triage supplies, loads of medicine, vitamins, oral rehydration fluids, pulse monitors, 4 large oxygen tanks, and 150 PPEs for medical staff at the hospitals and health centers of our city. The PPEs cost $14 each and last for 5 washes, then are thrown away.
Jungle Ministry ordered 4 oxygen tanks (price has risen substantially due to demand) and associated supplies and have a team administering this to save lives of people who are being turned away from the hospitals. The oxygen tanks cost a little over $400.
We would like to buy at least 500 more PPEs and could easily use 10 more oxygen tanks and associated supplies.
We have been serving in Peru for 23 years. Your gift will provide financial support to purchase essential food, medicines, and other supplies.
Thank you for being the difference.
