Imagine starting a race knowing everyone will get a head start, except for you. Not exactly fair, is it? Jumpstart is a proven solution to a huge issue. Children who start kindergarten behind their peers tend to stay behind and never catch up.
About Jumpstart's Young Professionals Board (YPB)The Boston-based chapter of Jumpstart's YPB is a diverse group of Boston-area young professionals committed to:
• Raising awareness about the importance of early education for all children
• Generating additional resources through community events and individual fundraising, that support Jumpstart’s programs in the Northeast U.S., especially MA and RI
• Providing opportunities for Boston-area young professionals to network and grow in their professional skill sets
About Jumpstart
Jumpstart is a national early education organization working toward the day every child in America enters school prepared to succeed. Jumpstart delivers a research-based and cost-effective program by training college students and community volunteers, called Corps members, to work with pre-school aged children in underserved neighborhoods. Through a proven curriculum, these children develop the language and literacy skills they need to be ready for school, setting them on a path for lifelong success. This year, in Massachusetts alone, over 800 Jumpstart Corps members will give over 190,000 hours of service to 2,100 children, building the vital language and literacy skills children need to thrive academically.
