Dear Family and Friends,
As many of you know, I have been going to sleep away camp for several years now. For my Bat Mitzvah project, it would be an honor if I could send a grieving child of a parent, sibling or a significant person in a child's life, to camp.
These camps go on for one week at the end of the summer, and they are completely free for the campers. This is an opportunity for the kids to have fun and try new things.
My goal is to raise $2,500 to send 2 grieving children to camp. I hope you can help me fundraise to help out these kids and give them the amazing opportunity to go to camp and be surrounded by people who understand and have experienced what they've been through.
This project is important to me because I know someone who has had a similar experience -- my Dad, who lost his mother when he was nine years old. I remember how he told me how much fun camp was and how important it was for my brother and I to go to camp. He went to camp for the first time only weeks after his mother passed.
Experience camps is different than any other sleep away camp because kids who have experienced a loss of a parent will be surrounded by others who understand and share a similar experience, and also have a week of fun at a sleep away camp.
So, I've decided to swim laps as a way of creating a fundraising event for this cause. My plan is to swim 100 laps by Friday, October 19, 2018. You can either sponsor per lap in any amount of money that you choose (For example: $1 per lap = $100.00; $.50 per lap = $50.00; $.25 per lap = $25.00; $.18 per lap = $18.00; $.10 per lap = $10.00) or make any donation that you would like which I will really appreciate.
More importantly, I know that the kids that I am fundraising for will really appreciate your donation.
Love,
Jules
