In an effort to serve members of a community struggling right outside his courtroom, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Craig Mitchell founded a running club to help homeless and formerly incarcerated individuals overcome poverty and addiction and get back on their feet. As the project grew, professionals from around LA joined the team to provide additional mentorship and support. Today, all are part of one transformative team: The Skid Row Running Club. Since 2012, between 300 – 500 people have run with the group, and every year, Mitchell takes his most dedicated runners to participate in an international marathon.
