If you have ever taken the wrong turn on a trail, then you will understand the need for updating mislabeled trails. If you have ever taken the wrong turn on a trail when it's raining and the detour means an extra 5 miles, you really won't need any explanation. If you have ever set out for a short hike, got turned around, followed a misplaced sign, ended up doing multiple creek crossings, and didn't have more than a granola bar with you -- well, you get the idea.
Currently, there are several missing and/or mislabeled signs in the Snowbird Backcountry in Graham County, North Carolina. We, the Partners of Joyce Kilmer - Slickrock Wilderness are working directly with the US Forest Service to repair, replace, and install MUCH-needed new signs. With the logistics underway, we're looking to you to help us afford this vital update. With limited resources for uneccesary rescues and an increase in hikers seeking safe places to recreate, mean that it's past time to knock this chore off of our to-do list.
If you can support us in any way, we're certain you'll be contributing to many happy memories and safe hikes.
