I met Brian when he first started working at Skadden's Chicago office where we became colleagues and friends. In 2014, unbeknownst to me at the time, Brian and I both ended up applying to the U.S. Attorney's Office at the same time. As luck would have it, we both got hired. Our friendship only grew as we tackled the challenges of being new AUSAs and learning the world of criminal law together.
In 2017, after the birth of his second daughter, Brian was diagnosed with ALS and given six months to live. But instead of accepting that devastating prognosis, Brian and Sandra chose to fight - both for Brian's life, and the lives of others battling this disease.
Because of their superhuman efforts, Brian is now close to receiving a treatment that not only could very well save his life, but could also lead to a breakthrough that could save many thousands more. Every dollar of this campaign will go towards critical safety testing for that treatment.
Brian and Sandra are on the precipice of an actual cure - let's help them get there!
