Red Cross Clubs across the Eastern North Carolina Region are raising funds to support the purchase of vaccines, as well as awareness within their communities of the continued need to protect children in the US and abroad against vaccine preventable diseases.
Since 2001, the American Red Cross and its partners have immunized more than 2 billion children against measles, one of the world's deadliest diseases through the Measles and Rubella Initiative. But this is not enough. It is estimated that more than 300 kids—most of them children under the age of 5—still die every day from these preventable conditions.
A donation as little as $1 can provide a lifesaving measles vaccination for a child, $2 for the combined measles and rubella vaccines.
