Why this Campaign Matters:
2020 has been a difficult year for almost everyone. We have had to adjust to work and school from home. And get used to changes in our social lives and the way that we interact with people. But these are manageable changes. For far too many – COVID means grieving the loss of a loved one. There are over 1 million children directly impacted by a COVID-related death*.
Overall, 1 in 5 children are grieving the loss of a parent, sibling or caregiver. With grief support needed more than ever, I am helping Experience Camps raise money through this GoFundMe campaign from November 16-December 31. We are looking to send as many grieving kids to camp in 2021 as possible. You have the power to make a real impact in the lives of grieving children. Next summer will be my 7th year volunteering for Experience Camps. Camp is entirely free to the kids due to the financial support from donations and time provided by volunteers. This organization is run exceptionally well and you can be confident that your contribution will make a huge impact on a kid’s life and future.
About Experience Camps: Experience Camps are nationally recognized summer camps for grieving children, ages 9-17, who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or caregiver. We give grieving children experiences that will change their lives forever. Experience Camps operates summer camp programs in 10 locations nationwide, and helps develop invaluable coping skills that enable them to move forward with their lives.
Since 2009, Experience Camps has transformed the lives of thousands of children by bringing light to the profound darkness of grief. We offer a community where kids can laugh, cry, play, create, honor the memory of the person who died or forget the grief that weighs them down. It's a home away from home. And just about everyone will tell you... "It's the best week of the year." *Source: COVID-19 and Grief
