This Summer, I will be in the middle of the Mediterranean, rowing hard under the blistering sun, battling salt sores, fatigue and sea sickness, as our team seeks to break the record set in 2015 for the fastest transit by a 5 person crew of under 3 days between Barcelona and Ibiza.
Rowing across an ocean or sea is like no other sport. Ocean rowing is as much about the crews ability to cope mentally, as it is about technique and physical strength. The endurance required will result in a once in lifetime adventure.
Since 2013, NOMAN campaign has raised $2 million in the fight against HPV, the causal agent of 5% of all cancers. The funds raised from this race will help eradicate this virus from the face of the Earth, preventing millions of cancers in the process. We can accomplish this feat via universal vaccination for girls AND boys (recent research shows that men are at a substantially increasing risk for contracting HPV-related oral cancer, however in most countries boys are not routinely vaccinated).
We have been very impressed with the Foundation's achievements since the founders started the organization in 2010 after the loss of their mother to HPV-related cancer. Our goal is help them realize their dreams of ending suffering caused by HPV.
