John Muir PTA COVID Emergency Response
December 2020 UPDATE:
While we have raised a great deal, our wellness team has already distributed more than 90% of our funds, primarily for families at risk of eviction.
We are continuing to raise money for the ongoing needs of our community. Please donate what you can to support families furthest from educational justice.
These funds will be allocated as direct check payments for rent or crucial utilities for current John Muir Elementary families. In addition, the PTA will be supporting the Wellness Team in connecting families with other community resources that provide food, health support, and other vital needs.
Please consider giving what you can, even if it is a small amount.
If you received a stimulus check and are not financially impacted by COVID-19, would you please #PassTheCheck on to your neighbors? You can also help by sharing this message within your network.
NEW: In response to the pandemic, Congress has allowed for all taxpayers to deduct $300 of qualified cash contributions to tax-exempt public charities for 2020. This is an above-the-line deduction, which means it does not require that you itemize to claim the deduction.
If you need assistance: Please email Susan Shorr at email@example.com if you are a Muir family in need of resources or financial support due to Covid-19.
All requests for funding will be considered by the Muir Wellness team. Final decisions will be determined by the team with an understanding that we will sadly be unable to fulfill all of the requests received. The Muir PTA will administer the COVID-19 fund which will be a separate initiative of the PTA.
