The CCBC is truly a special event. As a long time supporter, I made one grueling crossing on the stand up board in 3ft seas with 15mph winds from Plymouth to Wellfleet, after which I swore I'd never do it again. But I spent several years captaining a support boat to help out all of the amazing paddlers who participate in this activity. Yet, what's really inspiring is hearing the stories from families who benefit from Christopher's Haven, which this event is really all about. Christopher's Haven is a home for kids and their families while they are battling cancer. It's more than just a place to stay. It's a loving support network, a comfortable home, and an inspiration to any family or child dealing with cancer. Hearing the stories of families who have benefited from Christopher's Haven made me want to paddle again.
So this year I will take on the 15 mile virtual paddle and work to raise money for this worthy cause. A virtual paddle means that we will not be paddling as a large group, but in small groups instead. But I need your support! I realize that times are tough in this uncertain environment, but please consider donating as little as $10 or as much as $100, or anything you can to support a very worthy cause. Thank you.
