It's been a busy couple of weeks at the Central Missouri Humane Society. A one-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog mix was brought to the shelter in critical condition after reportedly being hit by a car and left for dead on the side of Interstate 70. The sweet boy was found lying in a ditch, unable to move. He was alone and suffering for hours before he was found. He had severe wounds on his head and rear legs but the immediate concern was for his front legs; one was severely swollen and the other had an exposed compound fracture. We worked tirelessly to stabilize him but weren’t sure if he would make it through the night.
His condition required more than what our small veterinary clinic could handle so our veterinary technicians drove him over to the MU Veterinary Health Center for additional care. After a thorough examination, it was determined that the best course of action would be a complicated and expensive surgery followed by a lengthy recovery, all in the hopes of saving both front legs.
We had to think fast on our feet to save both of his.
Now we need your help to give this sweet boy a new beginning! Please consider making a donation to help cover the cost of his ongoing medical treatment.
He is currently in a loving foster home where he is receiving specialized care during his difficult recovery. Very diligent post-operative care will be required over the next two to three months while he begins to heal. Unfortunately, sometimes it's the scars you can't see that take the longest to heal.
Your donation will help us to turn this sad story into a happy ending for this deserving boy. Please consider making a donation TODAY!
