For my Mitzvah Project for my Bar Mitzvah, I will be running in the VCU Health 8K on Saturday, November 10, 2018. I will be running to raise money for a local charity, Connor's Heroes, founded by parent's friends.
Connor's Heroes provides support for children who must endure cancer treatment and their families. Their programs aim to ease the burdens brought on by extended hospital stays, help families connect with others who share a similar journey, raise funds for cancer research, and provide bereavement support.
Currently, Connor's Heroes provides assistance to children and their families who are being treated for cancer at the Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU, including the ASK Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic and the VCU Massey Cancer Center Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. They also provide Heroes Backpacks to children treated for cancer at Carilion Clinic Children's Hospital in Roanoke.
