Hello friends and family! I’m excited to share that I plan to run (jog!) the 2019 Bank of America Chicago Marathon this October. Running a marathon has long been a bucket list item for me since I started running about 10 years ago. I’m not getting any younger and this seems like as good a year as any to make it happen. As part of this experience, I’ll be fundraising for an organization named Imerman Angels.
Why Imerman Angels? Imerman Angels is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide personalized connections that enable one-on-one support among cancer fighters, survivors, and caregivers. As most of you know, this resonates closely with me and I’ll be running in honor of my dad, Jim Munk, who passed away in 1994 from cancer. Participating in the Chicago Marathon with Team Imerman Angels in my dad’s memory gives me an opportunity to make a difference for anyone seeking cancer support. In 2018, Team Imerman Angels participants raised over $320,000 and created over 900 connections between those impacted by cancer and a Mentor Angel. I’d love your support as I spend the next 9 months ramping up my miles and getting ready for this exciting event. Ask me how training is going, connect with me on social media, honk or wave if you see me running by, and if you’re able throw a few bucks my way to help in my fundraising efforts. Thanks for considering!
Special thanks to fellow Timothy Christian alumnus Sven Johnson for introducing me to Imerman Angels; Sven has been fundraising with Team IA for over 8 years!
